Independent Studies work - Environment
For this module I am planning on building an environment based from a TV series called Walking dead. I am going to be building a small environment of an outside area of this program as it will be the first time I have worked on an outside environment. This will give me the chance to improve on my modelling techniques and skills and texture skills. I feel working on an environment based on an outside area will give me the chance to learn some new techniques and help me to gain more knowledge on working on outside environments in the future.
As I am using work from another module I have not yet managed to model the environment sections that I plan to do and will be using images for the show reel to represent what it is I want to have at the end, these images will be from the TV series I am using for the module. I might make some block out models with no textures which I can pan the camera around to how I want it just so you can get the idea on what it is I am going for in each scene. I will be mainly focusing on the outside are and not the inside are of the prison.
I will be working on the work for this during the Independent studies module next year.
The work for this will mainly be focused on the prison area of this TV series.
Steps for show reel
- Camera pans through the section of the environment showing all parts of the environment focusing on most important parts.
- Slow zoom and rotations on camera when showing of environment assets
- rotation of certain assets in wire frame mode
- Modelling assets
- Texture maps used

Advanced 3D work
For this I will be adding in what I do to my portfolio. This a module I will be studying next semester and I still am not sure what I want to do for it. My idea for this module is to get a piece of concept from an animated film and model it in the style of the animated film.
I have looked at a number of animated films and am still undecided on what to do. I plan not to work on another big environment as I already have one to work on in the other module but I might work on a smaller environment based inside a house.
I have looked at this animated film called UP, produced by Disney Pixar. I like the idea of working on this sort of thing but I am still not sure on the part to work on because I am not sure about how much of this I would be able to do based on the amount of work I will have to work on. If I use this concept to model from I can model a section of it and just use that section in my show reel and portfolio like maybe the image in the middle.
I have also looked at games to see if I could see a concept I would like. Fable 3 have some good concepts which I got images of a town I could build from. I could do the same for this and build a small section of this environment for the show reel and work on completing it when I have more time.
I feel that either of these concepts would be good to work on modelling because they are both scenes that I have hardly worked on and could help with my knowledge and skills to get better and improve on.
